****How do I know if my child needs tutoring?

Your child may benefit from tutoring if you observe any of the following:

1. Lack of motivation or confidence.
2. Anxiety, panic, withdrawal - emotional reactions towards school.
3. Resistance or unwillingness to talk about school.
4. Low self-esteem (hearing comments like,"I'm stupid. I can't do it.")
5. Daily frustration with homework assignments.

****Will tutoring improve my student's grades?

One-on-one tutoring can provide insights into the basic skills a student may have missed. A student is more likely to ask questions or to listen carefully to a concept explained in a one-on-one session. Student's grades usually will improve quickly and dramatically. One-on-one tutoring never fails to help students progress. The time it takes for you to see these improvements varies with each student.

****How many days a week will my student need tutoring sessions?

Most students attend one to three sessions per week, depending on individual needs. A student may start with two or three sessions per week until they are closer to grade level. Then they may attend only one session per week to stay ahead.

****What areas does THE LEARNING EDGE serve?

THE LEARNING EDGE serves all of the Ohio Northcoast. The counties of Erie, Huron, Sandusky, Ottawa and Lorain are all presently in our area. If you have questions about availability of tutoring services beyond this area, feel free to contact us.

****What is the difference between THE LEARNING EDGE and a traditional learning center?

There are three main differences between THE LEARNING EDGE and a traditional learning center. #1 - We provide one-on-one instruction with the same experienced tutor. Traditional learning centers are comprised of group instruction and are not guaranteed the same instructor each time. # 2 -Our tutors work with the student's curriculum and design it to fit the student's learning needs. #3 - THE LEARNING EDGE offers the session for the students based upon the time and location that best meets the student's educational needs. A traditional learning center is only open on limited days and times.

****What times are your tutors available?

We work around your schedule! THE LEARNING EDGE tutors are available year round, 7 days a week, for morning, afternoon or evening sessions. No matter how busy your schedule is, we will be able to serve you.

****How do you evaluate my child's progress?

Our tutors will briefly meet with the parent after each session to discuss the objectives that were accomplished during the session. Every four weeks you will receive a written report of your child's progress. The tutor will partner with you and keep you informed every step of the way.

****Are there any long-term commitment to make?

No, Although we do require our clients to sign a contract acknowledging our policies, there is no long-term commitment required. Clients may cancel sessions with one week written notice.
