The Learning Edge Story
I began teaching in 1991 after graduating from Presbyterian College and receiving
my master's degree from The University of South Carolina. I taught in the Kershaw
County School District for 8 years and then spent a year in Wake County School District
before deciding to homeschool my children. After moving to Ohio I looked for ways to continue with my love
for teaching and maintain a flexible schedule allowing me to be home with my children.
I know
first hand the frustration that parents and teachers feel when they have a child who is struggling in school. In searching out quality tutoring services, I found that there were very few options available. I decided
to use my talents and passion to provide educational services that would meet my expectations not only as a parent, but also
as an educator. This is how The Learning Edge began.
I quickly learned that the need for high quality one-on-one tutoring was in demand. I
had more demand than I could handle, so I invited others to be a part of The Learning Edge team. Our
focus was on creating an environment for teachers to individually know each of their students so they could tune the instruction
to fit each child’s needs. We were quickly called upon by parents to assist their children in overcoming
their educational challenges. The
Learning Edge became one of the very first innovators in the NorthCoast area to offer
in-home tutoring services, building one success story after another.
It gives me
great pride to say that our teachers have helped hundreds of students of all ages and grade levels improve their education
and overcome obstacles. The successes The Learning Edge
helped them achieve are what excite us about the work we do. The strong relationships that are built have created a
large family here in the NorthCoast area. Many of these families remain in contact with us to this very day.
We'd like to offer our sincerest thanks to all the families of The Learning Edge. It is always a joy to be a part
of your academic success.
Blessings!
